The Possibility Club

May 28, 2018

Welcome to The Possibility Club, a space to delve into the ideas and decisions that seek to improve and repair systems in business, culture and education. Richard Freeman's special guest this week is Catherine Weetman. Catherine helps organisations in the UK to get ready for the inevitable future of manufacturing. As one of the UK’s leading voices in understanding the circular economy, Catherine’s focus is on sustainable materials and logistics in the goods we make and consume and the services we rely on. She challenges big and small businesses alike to reduce and reuse waste and to develop a much smarter relationship with the resources we take for granted. Catherine is a Visiting Fellow at the University of Huddersfield and the Vice-Chair of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s Environment and Sustainability Forum. Her book, 'A Circular Economy Handbook for Business and Supply Chains’, was published by Kogan Page in 2016. Richard and Catherine spoke on the phone towards the end of March 2018 after being introduced by a mutual contact. They talk about local, national and global sustainability and whether the current consciousness on the lifecycle of plastics and textiles is the tipping point we need or just a flash in the pan.
