The Possibility Club

Sep 25, 2017

In this podcast Cat Rose has a conversation with Rachael Perrin about the power of music as a communication aid in business, communities, with society’s marginalised and with ourselves. They also discuss the dynamics of running social enterprise and why the arts can sometimes be too busy looking backwards to be innovative. Rachel Perrin is a founding director of Soundcastle, an award-winning social enterprise that connects communities through creative music-making. Founded in 2011, the company has been built on a passion for advancing the field of creative music facilitation and the drive to develop a socially responsible arts organisation. High profile collaborations with CBeebies and The British Museum and many others have put Soundcastle on the cultural map. Rachael is an accomplished musician and facilitator, and was recently appointed Professor of Enterprise & Creative Entrepreneurship at London's Guildhall School of Speech & Drama. Rachael was the co-authored of a piece of research entitled 'A Manifesto and Framework for Participatory Musicking’, which she presented with her Soundcastle co-directors at the International Society of Music Educators Conference in Glasgow in 2016. --- If you enjoyed the conversation, please like, subscribe and review - and share with colleagues.
